The Rev’d DAVID KEITH BARNES

To be Priest in Charge of The Bude Cluster of Parishes

Budehaven, Launcells, Marhamchurch and Stratton

His licensing will be on January 30th 2012 at 7pm
at St Andrew’s Church, Stratton

Fr. David was interviewed formally this week on Wednesday with Bishop Tim, Archdeacon Audrey Elkington the Rural Dean Fr. Robert Thewsey and two representatives from each of the four parishes.

He had the opportunity to visit all the churches, Marhamchurch School and The Rectory in Bude, on Tuesday afternoon and in the evening met members of the PCCs of all the parishes at The Bray Institute at Marhamchurch who all had the opportunity to chat with him informally.

All interviewers were unanimous in the decision to offer him the post and we heard by e-mail from the Rural Dean on Friday that “David has said YES he would love to come here and work with the Churches”.

He hopes to move to The Rectory in January with his wife Jean, who is a Reader, from his parish in Honley, Yorkshire. It has been agreed that St Andrew’s will be the venue for his licensing on Monday 30th January 2012 at 7 pm.
